Patrick Dean McClure

     Patrick “Baldy” Dean McClure, 81, of Newton, NC, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, NC.

     Born on June 12, 1943, in Shoshone, Idaho, to the late Phillip James and Edna Anderson McClure, and was a graduate of Dietrich High School.  Pat was a devoted patriot and a proud Vietnam veteran who honorably served as a Combat Engineer in the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1966, and was Honorably discharged in April 1970. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he exemplified the values of service and dedication throughout his life. A lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Pat continued to contribute to his community as a respected member of the American Foreign Legion Post 43 in Fort Mill, SC.

     Pat was not only a military man; he was also an avid golfer, a casino connoisseur and a skilled pool player, known for his competitive spirit and numerous victories in pool tournaments. When he wasn’t enjoying these activities, he loved traveling in his RV, exploring new places, and creating lasting memories with his family. Above all, Pat cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

     In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in Death by his previous wife of 49 years, Eva Maria McClure, and his brother, Earnest “Ernie” McClure.

     He is survived by his loving wife of one year, Cornelia “Nellie” Leijen McClure.

     Sons Roger McClure and wife Kristen of Shambala, Marcus “Marc” McClure and wife Melissa of Bullhead City, AZ, and Brian McClure and wife Jennifer of Fort Mill, SC; daughter Debra Hernke-Morin and husband Tim of Clover, SC; Sister Ann Sweet of Yuma, AZ; Brother in Law Ken Smith of Bellevue, ID; grandchildren Jamie McClure, Lucas McClure, Zane and Joshua Hernke, Cameron McClure, Troy and Cody DeMarmels, and Ashley and Mikayla DeMarmels; great grandchildren Oliver, Eden, Valerie and Vivienne; along with numerous close friends and loving family members.

     A memorial service to celebrate Patrick’s life is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Shoshone Cemetery in Shoshone.

     Local arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Shoshone Chapel.
