Patrick "Pat" Lockwood Obituary

Patrick Sheehan Lockwood was born 30 Aug 1952 to parents Richard Henry Lockwood and Mary Patricia Sheehan in Boise, Idaho.   He attended Lowell grade school and North Junior High.  He lived at 2429 Ellis Ave. a home built by his grandfather. When he was sixteen, he rode his horse Andy from Boise to McCall, traveling through the mountains. He maintained many childhood friends and enjoyed many adventures with them over the years.

In 1971, Pat graduated from Bishop Kelly High School in Boise, Idaho.  He attended Boise State University and then transferred to University of Idaho at Moscow, Idaho.

Pat graduated from the University of Idaho in 1975 with a degree in Agribusiness. Pat had many jobs throughout his teen and college years.  He worked at the Highland Stables in Boise, Idaho, as a stable hand mucking stalls so he had a place for his horse Andy.  He worked as a nanny in McCall for Chip Eberle.  He worked for Guy Harris Lumber stripping green lumber.  He worked on a drill core with Jones Drilling from Boise.  He worked as an intern assistant for Dr. Lang vet clinic in Eagle, Idaho.  He was a ranch hand in Wyoming the summer after he graduated college.

Pat and his family bought Lockwood Land and Livestock in 1977. Pat began his career (hobby) of rancher, owner of Lockwood Land and Livestock producing certified Angus Beef cattle. After moving to Shoshone, Pat worked at Blinco kill floor in Gooding, Idaho.  When the plant closed, he worked in the spud harvest as cellar boss for JR Simplot at different locations, Tuttle, Shoshone, and Jerome.

Pat married Colleen Ourada on July 2, 1983 in Boise, Idaho.  They have one daughter, Melissa Anne.  With the help of his wife and daughter, he continued to operate the ranch. Through the years, Pat influenced many youngsters. Monte MacConnell (Anne) Arco, Idaho became his ranching assistant and adopted son.

In 1992 Pat began work for SUWS, an adolescent youth program for troubled teens, as logistic management director.  He was the SUWS communication link to the BLM and area ranchers.  He also managed the budget and business buying for the entire youth programs of AHS.  After 30 years, SUWS closed in 2013. Pat remained working for CRC California to close out SUWS assets. He inspired many young students and instructors, and was dubbed “God of the Desert”. He began his new job with Blue Fire Therapy May 2014. In 2018, Pat was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and Lewey dementia. He continued working at Blue Fire and retired in Jan 2021.

Pat's hobbies included hunting, war stories, airplanes, and country drives and adventures with his family and friends.  He was a member of the Gooding Elks Lodge and served as an Exalted Ruler. His favorite duties included helping youth, setting up the beer booth for the Gooding Rodeo, and playing cards with the “old” guys at the Elks lodge.

Surviving Pat are his wife – Colleen; daughter Melissa Hartwood (Beth) of Redmond, Oregon; brothers - Mike Lockwood (Judy) of Boise, and Charles Lockwood of England; God-child - Montana MacConnell of Boise, Idaho; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Kohtz, Harrison Hope Hospice, and Stonebridge Memory Care for their support and assistance these past few months.

In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation to your favorite youth program or to Boise State University or University of Idaho student scholarship or student aid programs.
