Rachelle Ann Maxwell Hidalgo, 53, of Richland, Washington, passed away on April 26, 2024 in Richland after a hemorrhagic stroke. Rachelle was born on February 6, 1971, in Gooding, Idaho to her loving parents, Larry and Betty [Mathews] Maxwell. The third of five children, she attended Kamiah Elementary School in Kamiah, Idaho, and grew up being active in church. In 1985, she moved with her family to Kona, Hawaii where she was involved in her church youth group.
Rachelle was a hard worker from a young age. She worked fast food, retail, secretarial, court advocate, and sales jobs. In August 1997, Rachelle married her husband, Timothy Hidalgo and moved to Richland. They had a blended family, then fostered and adopted five more children for a total of seven children. Rachelle dedicated her life to her husband and family, raising her children, and advocating for her children’s educational needs to be met.
A type 1 diabetic from the age of four, Rachelle battled a progressive decline and poor health for many years. She was a strong woman who fought for her health and for the underdog. She had a big heart and was generous to those in need. She was an animal lover, and especially loved her dogs. Rachelle had a sharp mind and a good sense of humor. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, making every holiday special, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was looking forward to meeting her new grandson in July.
