Richard E. Maestas passed away on April 24, 2026, at home in Los Altos, California, due to complications of Parkinson’s Disease. The eldest of six children, Richard was born in Alamosa, Colorado, and raised on a small farm in Gooding, Idaho. His parents, Richard and Fede, were devout Catholics and had great plans for him to become a priest. Richard, or Dick as he was lovingly known, chose a different path for himself.
Richard married his beloved wife of 63 years, Anna Marie Maestas (Grant), on August 25, 1962. In the spring of 1965, Richard graduated from Idaho State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics. Soon thereafter, the couple moved to Sunnyvale, California, where Richard accepted a job with Lockheed Martin. Richard proudly worked at Lockheed as a Program Manager for 34 years. In 1976, Richard and Marie ultimately settled in Los Altos.
Richard is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Maestas; daughter, Kristin Maestas; granddaughter, Sierra Maestas-Gach and her husband, Eric Gach; and great-grandchildren, Bennett and Layne.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Idaho State University’s College of Arts and Letters, where Richard was honored to serve as a member of the Dean's Advisory Board for 10 years. Checks may be mailed directly to the Office of Advancement; memo: In memory of Dick Maestas for CAL student scholarships.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
