Robert "Billy" Parsons Obituary

Robert “Billy” Parsons, 67, a resident of Bliss, Idaho passed away December 17, 2025, at his home.

Billy was born September 26, 1958, in Idaho Falls Idaho to Don and LaDene Parsons. He was one of seven children. Billy lived a wonderful life with lots of adventures. He grew up in a musical family and travelled all throughout Idaho playing the bass fiddle and other instruments in the family band. Don would load up the Six children, LaDene, bass fiddle, piano, and numerous other instruments in an old Dodge van towing a camp trailer and away they’d go to play their music in school gyms, Grange Halls and festivals. Weiser Idaho National Old Time Fiddle contest was one of Billy’s favorites, he loved to jam with all his musician friends and never missed a year. The talent Billy had for playing the bass afforded him the opportunity to play in numerous bands, Durrell Brothers, Blind Driver, Crossroadz, Trio Pinto, Tracy Morrison, The Country Club, Reilly Coyote and Tater Patch just to mention a few! He was even lucky enough to tour Europe with Trio Pinto. What an amazing musical career he had! Aside from his music talent Billy was a Jack Of All Trades!!!!

There wasn’t anything he couldn’t master. He was a furniture refinisher, wood worker, fabric upholsterer, Artist, Chef, best darn fisherman around and even restored a stagecoach station on the Old Oregon Trail with his best friend Tracy Morrison, it would become their home and one of Billy’s proudest accomplishments. Billy and Tracy hosted some of the finest bluegrass jams there, with guests camping all throughout the property and if you were one of the lucky ones you got to stay in the teepee (I was lucky once) another one of Billy’s feats!

Billy will be remembered for his quick-witted puns, (a Parsons thing) his all around wisdom that he loved to share, compassion for others, his musical talent, craftsmanship and just all-around great guy!!! Rest in peace Billy, you will be so missed!

Survivors include: Tracy Morrison, (best friend); siblings - Donnie (Sharon Shoemaker) Parsons, JoAnne Christensen, DeeAnne (Tom Taylor) Bush, Michael (Linda Scheer) Parsons, Jeffrey (Gale Phillips) Parsons; nephews - Thomas Paul, Jayson (Nicole) Bush; niece - Tessa (Sam) Cates; great nephew and nieces - Zack, Buffy and Aria; honorary brother and sister - Doug and Kathy Anderson who were by Billy’s side through thick and thin and all the hundreds of  musician friends he cherished!

He was proceeded in death by: his son - Eric Woods; parents - Don and LaDene Parsons; sister - Kathy Anne Parsons; and brother-in-law - V.W. Bob.

There will be a celebration of life in Boise June 13th, 2026 and details announced at a later date.
