Sherry Ivie Obituary

Sherry Ivie, a resident of Gooding, Idaho, was called home by her Heavenly Father at the tender age of 76 on June 29, at her daughter’s home surrounded by family and loved ones.

Sherry was born in Rupert, Idaho on July 5, 1943 to Bertha (Horn) Lish and George Lish.  Sherry’s family lived in Stites, Hazelton and Nampa,  Idaho, before they settled in Rupert when Sherry was 14.

In 1981 Sherry graduated with an Associate’s Degree in bookkeeping.  She worked as an accountant for several years.  Sherry was a talented quilter and made many beautiful quilts for family and friends.

Sherry also owned and operated a daycare for several years in Gooding.  Sherry loved to read and volunteered at the local library.  When Sherry’s eyesight failed and she couldn’t read anymore, she donated her books (which were many) to the local library.

Sherry married Wallace Devon Smith in Rupert, Idaho, and they raised and adored their children - Tammie Layne, Wally Morgan and Silas (Roberta) Smith.   Although Sherry and Wally later divorced, their love for their three children was consistent.

Sherry later met the love of her life, Ray Ivie.  They dated for several years and married April 11, 1987 in Wells, NV.  With this marriage Sherry inherited four additional daughters and grandchildren.

Our family wants to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Heritage Hospice for their care and support during the last few weeks of Sherry’s life.  Chaplin Mike, Bayleigh and Amanda you are very much cherished and appreciated for your loving actions and devotion.

Thank you also to Pastor Scott Williams for answering our family’s call to pray with us and Sherry.  We felt peace after Pastor Scott prayed with us and we know Sherry felt it also.

Michelle was Sherry’s long-term nurse; thank you for being so good to Sherry, we know she loved and appreciated you beyond words.

Sherry is survived by her three children - Tammie Layne, Wally Morgan/ Rupert Idaho and Silas (Roberta) Smith/Rupert, Idaho; two brothers - Tommy (Jo) Lish/Hot Springs, Arkansas and Dennis (Della) Lish/Rupert, ID; two sisters - Georgia (Dave) Mackley/Star, ID and Penny Thompson/Burley, ID; her 10 grandchildren - Kara (Stephen) Mason/Gooding, ID, Kori (Chuck) Rumple/Gooding, ID, Shawna Haynes/Jerome, ID,  Shelby (Chad) Caltron, Ashley (Danielle) Esparza/Rupert, ID, Kaitlin Smith/Rupert, ID, Zack Smith/Rupert, ID, Sarah Duncan/Burley, ID, Chelsea Braschuk/Rupert and Walter Morgan/Rupert, ID; her great-grandchildren - Justin Childers, Brendan Layne, Kassidi Gonzales, Tayson Mason, Karlee Mason, Braxton Rumple, Trinity Rumple, Lexi Haynes, Brylee Haynes, Rory Haynes, Zavier Esparza, Alexa Esparza, Lincoln Esparza, Charlee Higgins, Blayke Higgins, Cali Catron, Deegan Catron, McKinley Catron, Creed Catron, and one great-great grandson - Jayden Childers.
