Susan Hall Obituary

Susan Rice Hall was born on September 4, 1946, in Gooding, Idaho. Susan lived a full and devoted life deeply rooted in her hometown and the surrounding valley she cherished. She attended Gooding schools from first grade through graduation and later trained at Lady Catherine’s Beauty School in Boise. She opened her own beauty shop in Gooding, where she quickly built a large and loyal clientele who appreciated not only her skills but her warm, caring nature.

On May 14, 1971, Susan married Max Hall, beginning a loving partnership that lasted through the years. Together they welcomed two sons: Grady (born 1973) (Amber) and Ryan (born 1976) (Janette). After time in Logan, Utah—while Max completed his degree at Utah State University—and a few years in Eagle with the Department of Lands, the family returned to Gooding, where they settled happily and raised their boys amid the community they loved.

Susan was an exceptional homemaker and the heart of her family. No one was more devoted to family than Susan. Her four grandsons—Chase, Cayden, Dakota, and Alec—called her "Mammy," and they were the absolute apple of her eye. She delighted in nothing more than cooking special meals for them, listening intently to stories of their days, attending every sporting event to cheer them on, and spoiling them at every opportunity. Her gentle, kind heart extended to everyone she knew, making people feel seen, valued, and loved without ever seeking attention.

Susan had a sparkling sense of style, always choosing outfits that were shiny, glittery, and happy, reflecting the joy she carried inside. She loved decorating and contributed her creativity for many years to Gooding's Festival of Trees, helping create festive, shimmering displays that brought holiday magic to the community and supported local causes.

A true homebody, Susan enjoyed the simple rhythms of life in Gooding with occasional travels: one trip to Mexico, one to Hawaii, and cherished Army reunions across the U.S. where Max reconnected with his Vietnam buddies. She treasured those moments of loyalty and shared laughter.

Susan is survived by her husband, Max Hall of Gooding; sons Grady Hall and Ryan Hall; grandsons Chase, Cayden, Dakota, and Alec, brother Tom Rice and mother Nadine Rice; and many extended family members and friends who were touched by her kindness.

Susan will be deeply missed for her unwavering gentleness, her sparkling spirit, and her boundless love—especially for her family. Her legacy of kindness and devotion lives on in every story shared, every holiday sparkle, and every quiet moment of family togetherness.
