Sylvia Louise Phillips, 77, a resident of Shoshone, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at her home in Shoshone.
Sylvia Louise Destruf was born April 21, 1941 to John Batiste Destruf and Florence Marie (Patton) Destruf in Paonia, Colorado.
She attended grade school in Paonia and Dragerton, Utah, graduating from Price High School in Price, Utah in 1959. She attended Holy Cross Nursing School in Salt Lake City, Utah graduating in Spring of 1962.
She married Sidney C. Phillips in August of 1962. They were later divorced, but remained the best of friends. To this union were born Stephanie, Sherry, John, and Scott.
She worked over forty years in various nursing positions which helped fulfill her helpers’ heart. She never refused to help others and any who came to her home never left hungry
She was preceded in death by her son - Scott Charles; her sister - Linda Alice; and both parents.
She is survived by her children - Stephanie (Joseph) McConnell, Sherry Phillips, John (Synthia) Phillips; three grandsons - Scott (Vanessa) Miller, Eric Brelan and Jeremy Brelan, and a very special granddaughter - Sumi Lyn Phillips; as well as a great grandson - Richard Brelan; best friend – Sid; and brother-in-law - Robert J Wade.
Services will be announced in the Spring.
Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Shoshone Chapel.
