Terrill "Terri" Harbison Obituary

Terri Harbison, 70, of Hagerman, Idaho, passed away September 29, 2023 with her daughter and son-in-law holding her hands after a tough fight with illness.

Terri was born to George and Eileen Atwood on August 25, 1953, in Elko, Nevada. She spent her younger years in Lamoille and Elko, NV with her older brother, younger sister, and younger brother. As a teenager, Terri moved to California with her mom. During her senior year, Terri moved back to Elko with her dad to finish her high school. During this time in her life, she gained bonus brothers and a sister whom she cherished throughout her life and a bonus mom, Cheri Atwood, with whom she developed a very special bond.

It was also during these late teenage years when she met the love of her life, Thomas Harbison, in Elko. Eager for their lives together to begin, the couple eloped to Reno, NV in 1972. They were a force to be reckoned with, married happily for 48 years, before Tom’s passing in 2020. In April 1974 they welcomed the arrival of their first bundle of joy, William and in 1982 God blessed them with another miracle, Angel.

Terri had a huge heart for children and dedicated many years being a para-professional at Hagerman Elementary School. In 2000, Terri decided to go to college and fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher where she graduated in 2005. She taught for many years at Bliss Elementary School and her students became “her kids”.  She truly loved each and every kid that walked through the door and that continued after graduation. After Terri retired from education, she continued to teach through her church leading many women’s Bible studies.

Terri leaves a legacy that shows her servant spirit. Over the years she brought family and friends into her home, she always had an open-door policy, and she loved with all her heart. She served the schools she worked for, her Church families, and so much more. Her faith in God was an example to anyone that met her.

Family was everything to Terri and her life revolved around her grandkids. She was happiest when they were with her. She showed them daily that a strong foundation built around God and family is all that you need. She loved with everything she had and would always give a helping hand to someone in need.

Terri is survived by: her daughter - Angel (Aaron) Beutler of Hagerman; her grandkids - Candace, Kayli, Kaden, and Karli Beutler; step-mother - Cheri Atwood, of Boise; brother - Chris Atwood of Boise; sister - Mickey Martinez of Hagerman; brother - David (Jane) Cobb of Reno, NV; brother - Richard Cobb of Henderson NV; sister - Cathy Vega of Reno, NV; many adopted kids and grandkids; and many, many other close family members.

She is preceded in death by her love - Tom Harbison; her son - Will Harbison; her father - George Atwood; her mother - Eileen Sokoff; her brother - Danny Atwood; and her brother - Johnny Cobb.
