Wendy (Knight) Jenkins

     Wendy (Knight) Jenkins, 53, a resident of Filer, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at her home in Filer surrounded by her loving family.

     Wendy Knight was born on April 1, 1967 in Provo, Utah, to Roger James and Doriene (Smoot) Knight. She was the second of three children.

     Wendy attended school at Tolman Elementary in Bountiful, Utah until midway through fourth grade. She continued her education in Gooding, Idaho, where she graduated in 1985.

     Wendy loved education and attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University; where she earned her degree in Elementary Education.

     Wendy had a wonderful childhood that included family vacations, dance lessons, fairs, 4-H, and helping on the farm and dairy. At a young age Wendy had a great ability to organize. She was determined, and always had things planned far in advance.

     In the spring of 1990, she met Mark Jenkins. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 16, 1990. Their home was blessed with six children - Heston, Betsy, Molly, Heber, Lilly, and Hyrum.

     Wendy deeply loved her family. She was always their greatest supporter. She would do anything for her family, and loved the time spent together in her home, at the fair, at ball games, on vacations, or just going for a drive. Her smile and laugh would brighten a room and bring joy to your heart. She often would encourage us to “Walk with a purpose”, advice that she exemplified.

     Wendy has a deep love for, and a great and abiding faith in our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

     Wendy is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved to serve, and was a great example of love and service. She served in many capacities in the primary, Sunday school, Young Womens and Relief Society organizations, most recently serving as the Stake Relief Society President. Through her service she touched many lives.

     Wendy is survived by: her husband - Mark Jenkins; her children - Heston (Shaunie) Jenkins, Betsy (Luke) Stevenson, Molly Jenkins, Heber Jenkins, and Lilly Jenkins; grandson - Hyrum Leigh Jenkins; her parents - Jim and Doriene Knight; siblings - Julie (Johnson) King and Jeff (Sariah) Knight.

     She was proceeded in death by: her infant son - Hyrum Smoot Jenkins; and grandparents - Edgar and Dora Smoot and Mac and Ruth Knight.

      A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Filer Stake Center, 840 Midway in Filer Idaho.

     A family service will be held Tuesday July 7, 2020 at 11:00 am, with the burial to follow at approximately 12:30 in the Filer Cemetery.

     All are invited to join the family at the viewing and cemetery.
