William "Bill" E. Shohoney

William "Bill" E. Shohoney, 76, a resident of Shoshone, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021 at his home in Shoshone.

 Bill Shohoney was born in San Diego, CA on September 18, 1945. He graduated from Helix High School in La Mesa, CA and then went on to attend San Diego State University, becoming a proud Aztec.

 Bill married Linda Ross to start one of his most amazing adventures of fatherhood to Eric. Bill and Linda divorced when Eric was age 8 and Bill met his true love, Melissa Wicker, who he adored.

Bill was an amazing father and active in the community wherever he went. Holding multiple jobs: from being a catching coach for the Padres, to being a truck driver hauling the space shuttle, working for the police department, to umpiring baseball, softball and volleyball in the local community. 

Bill retired from the San Diego Police Department and found peace in beautiful Idaho away from the chaos. In his spare time, he enjoyed helping others and being a bail enforcement agent to pass the time. Bill also enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with friends. 

After being diagnosed with lung cancer, he gave his best to all. Bill taught his son to be real and not sugar coat things. Anyone that knew him knew he was hard on the outside but soft on the inside.

Bill took his last breath in peace, knowing his one and only grandson will carry on the Shohoney legacy.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother - Hazel Shohoney; his father - William E. Shohoney; his sister - Shirley Demetere; and the love of his life - Melissa Wicker.

 Bill leaves behind his only son - Eric Shohoney (Samantha); grandson - Xander Shohoney, and many friends. 

A celebration of life for Bill will take place on Saturday, November 20, 2021, 11:00 am, at the Demaray Funeral Service – Shoshone chapel.
