William (Bill) Rolland Simon, 60, a resident of Fairfield in Camas County Idaho, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021, while enjoying his favorite pastime of fly-fishing.
Bill was born January 17, 1961, in Gooding, Idaho, to William (Bill) A., and Shirley Simon. He was raised on the family farm in Camas County with his sister Debbie and brother David. He was educated in Fairfield, Idaho home of the Camas County Mushers.
Nothing would impact him more than finding purpose in Jesus. His choice to trust Jesus’s teachings would influence decisions made throughout his life. After graduating from high school in 1979, Bill attended the University of Idaho where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) Greek Fraternity. During college he met the love of his life, Shari Shigeta, whom he married on August 6, 1983. Bill completed his Ag. Economics bachelor’s degree in 1984, he then went to work at a bank in Palouse, Washington. He returned to the Camas Prairie in 1985 to farm with his father and brother, David, and later joined S&L Commodities, a local hay broker for several years. He served on the County Planning & Zoning Committee and the Camas County School Board. He was admired for being levelheaded, honest, and fair in his work and service.
The addition of 3 sons completed Bill and Shari’s family. Being a man of God, he was always involved in his wife and sons’ life. He would walk alongside them with support, gentleness, kindness, and humility. He displayed this through his involvement in their sports, hobbies, and pursuits. Never imposing excessive high expectations, but always encouraging joy and commitment.
He was a man of many interests from skiing, various high school sports, salvaging old barnwood, restoring a 1969 GTO, RC planes, photography (scenic, portraits, school memory mates), working on a 1941 dodge army truck, flying drones, target shooting, furniture crafting, home improvement, fly fishing, and taking care of his dogs throughout the years. Bill loved sharing these hobbies and spending time with his family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother David Simon.
Bill is survived by his wife – Shari Simon; parents – Bill A. and Shirley Simon; his sister – Debbie (Matt) McLam; His sons – Jacob, George, and Jack Simon; and his grand puppy – Ziva, the corgi. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and friends.
